> Designs and operates automated manufacturing test systems for bikes and scooters, including software, electrical fixtures, firmware validation, and factory-floor troubleshooting. Requires a technical degree, hands-on test-station development, embedded-systems knowledge, and experience supporting production.

## Job Description

## Responsibilities

### Test System Ownership
- Design, build, and own software, electrical, and hardware test fixtures used in production.
- Define manufacturing test-system strategy and architecture; author test specifications and fixture acceptance plans.
- Write scripts and programs for automated testing, factory-data capture, traceability, and yield analysis.
- Develop hardware-testing features and tooling.
- Own an OpenHTF-based Python test runtime with YAML configuration, product variants, and feature flags.
- Maintain the TypeScript/Electron/React operator application communicating with the Python test agent over gRPC/protobuf.
- Manage CI, signed installers, semantic-version releases, and an S3 auto-update pipeline with rollback.

### Hardware Bring-Up and Validation
- Lead firmware bring-up, validation, and testing of PCBAs and electrical systems, including motor controllers, battery-management systems, and vehicle-controller units.
- Validate mechanical and electrical assemblies for safety, durability, and functionality.
- Validate and troubleshoot factory tests, define factory-test requirements, support software bring-up, and review fixture software.

### Production and Factory Support
- Triage manufacturing issues, perform initial failure analysis, and drive corrective actions with engineering partners.
- Troubleshoot assembly failures and diagnose and fix test-station bugs.
- Travel to contract manufacturers as needed to support successful design builds and testing.

### Cross-Functional and Vendor Leadership
- Partner with contract manufacturers, supplier quality, program teams, and engineering teams to resolve manufacturing issues.
- Manage external fixture vendors, including design reviews and Factory/Site Acceptance Testing.
- Prepare design-investigation summaries and test reports.
- Translate manufacturing requirements for enterprise IT and security teams.
- Lead test-engineering projects from concept through production execution.

## Requirements
- Degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or a related technical field.
- Experience with Python, C/C++, OpenHTF, TypeScript, or other scripting languages for test automation.
- Working knowledge of DMMs, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, custom test fixtures, soldering, and data acquisition.
- Experience designing and physically building functional test stations, including instrumentation, DUT interfacing, harnesses, PLC control, power sequencing, enclosures, panels, BOMs, and procurement.
- Hands-on experience with prototype bring-up, debugging, functional verification, and manufacturing support.
- Experience with embedded systems and CAN, USB, SPI, I2C, and UART protocols.
- Experience with ARM-based microcontrollers and RTOS frameworks, preferably STM32.
- Firmware programming and recovery experience using tools such as ST-LINK/STM32, AVR/ISP, and bootloaders.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and comfort working on a factory floor.

## Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with OpenHTF, TypeScript, React, Electron, gRPC, protobuf, SQLite, or building test platforms from scratch.
- MES/ERP integration experience, including travelers, BOMs, and ZPL/Zebra label generation.
- Cloud data plumbing with S3 and Lambda/SQS; dashboarding with Grafana or Mode.
- Contract-manufacturer relationships and global production ramps.
- Test-data pipelines, traceability, or genealogy systems.
- Firmware debug tools, serial consoles, JTAG/SWD adapters, and bootloaders.
- Android or embedded Linux development, deployment, and debugging.
- Willingness to travel to manufacturing and assembly vendors.

## Compensation and Benefits
- CAD $112,000–$140,000 base pay for the Montréal area, excluding potential equity, bonus, and benefits.
- Extended health and dental coverage, life insurance, disability benefits, mental-health benefits, family-building benefits, pet benefits, and a company-funded Health Care Savings Account.
- RRSP plan with company match.
- Flexible paid time off for salaried team members; hourly team members receive 15 days plus an additional day per year of service.
- 18 weeks of paid parental leave through a provincial-program top-up.
- Subsidized commuter benefits and Lyft ride credits.
