## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Lead the Ranking & Relevance team of software and machine-learning engineers.
- Build retrieval, ranking, recommendation, and personalization systems for provider matching.
- Guide the transition from filter-based matching to intelligent, outcome-aware ranking.
- Reconcile patient conversion, provider activation, and payer efficiency objectives.
- Establish offline evaluation, online experimentation, monitoring, and drift detection.
- Own reliability, instrumentation, model quality, and production operations.
- Hire, coach, and develop engineers while setting standards for applied machine learning.
- Partner with product, data science, payer engineering, and provider engineering teams.

## Requirements
- 4+ years managing engineers, including senior individual contributors and machine-learning engineers.
- 5+ years as a software or machine-learning engineer building production systems at scale.
- Experience hiring and developing engineering talent.
- Hands-on ownership of search, ranking, recommendation, or personalization systems.
- Experience with retrieval, learning-to-rank, feature pipelines, and online experimentation.
- Experience in a marketplace or multi-stakeholder product with competing incentives.
- Ability to distinguish data problems from model problems.
- Experience owning conversion or relevance metrics end to end.
- Comfort working with sensitive data and clinically consequential outcomes.
- Strong technical judgment, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills.

## Nice-to-haves
- Experience with patient-reported outcomes or measured expertise signals.
- Point of view on AI-augmented engineering practices.
- Experience defining ranking quality and outcome-based metrics.

## Compensation
- Annual salary range: $265,200–$331,500
