> Deploy and integrate superconducting quantum systems at customer sites, from device bring-up and cryogenic characterization to gate calibration and cloud operation. The role requires hands-on quantum hardware experience, Python proficiency, systematic debugging, strong communication, and international travel.

## Job Description

## Responsibilities

### Shared Responsibilities
- Own technical work for the assigned track during on-site deployments, including defining scope, executing experiments or calibrations, validating results against specifications, and documenting outcomes.
- Debug failures and isolate root causes across hardware, software, and infrastructure; escalate findings and drive cross-functional resolution.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers during on-site engagements.
- Communicate results clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Monitor deployed systems and proactively respond to regressions, drift, and outages.
- Train team members and customer personnel on relevant procedures, workflows, and best practices.
- Contribute to internal tooling, documentation, and automation to improve repeatability and reduce manual effort.
- Collaborate with internal R&D teams to improve device performance at scale.
- Support international customer deployments through regular travel.

### Systems & Integration Track
- Develop detailed experimental plans for each cooldown, including measurement scope, sequence, and success criteria.
- Characterize qubits and readout using internal tooling.
- Validate coherence, line yield, and qubit yield against project requirements.
- Debug failures across hardware, fabrication, and design.
- Provide remote support to on-site teams between deployments.

### Gate Calibration & Deployment Track
- Validate single- and two-qubit gate performance using standard benchmarking techniques.
- Bring up and fine-tune gate calibrations on production devices.
- Identify and resolve systematic error sources affecting one- and two-qubit fidelity.
- Maintain, monitor, and improve automated recalibration systems for cloud-deployed processors.
- Test, validate, stage, and release new gate calibrations to production with minimal disruption to uptime.

## Requirements

### All Candidates
- PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field; or an equivalent degree with relevant industry or postdoctoral experience.
- Hands-on experience with superconducting qubit devices.
- Proficiency in Python in a scientific or engineering context.
- Strong systematic debugging skills across wiring, electronics, devices, and software.
- Comfort working in customer-facing and field environments with limited on-site infrastructure support.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write experimental reports and explain results to non-specialists.
- Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
- Alternatively, an MS or BS with 3+ years of relevant experience.

### Systems & Integration Track
- Experience troubleshooting cryogenic microwave hardware.

### Gate Calibration & Deployment Track
- Experience calibrating and characterizing one- and two-qubit gates on superconducting qubit devices.
- Strong quantitative understanding of gate error sources, including decoherence, leakage, and control distortion.
- Experience writing high-quality code and participating in formal code review with Git.

## Nice to Have

### Systems & Integration Track
- Experience operating and troubleshooting dilution refrigerators.
- Knowledge of qubit failure modes and their signatures, including TLS, flux noise, and packaging issues.
- Software development experience in a collaborative industrial setting, including Git, code review, and CI.
- Customer-facing or field engineering experience.

### Gate Calibration & Deployment Track
- Experience with automated or scheduled recalibration systems in production or high-uptime environments.
- Familiarity with cloud deployment infrastructure, including AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, and Docker.
- Experience with pulse-level gate optimization, including DRAG, flux pulse shaping, and dynamical decoupling.
- Experience supporting rotational on-call or production-support schedules.
- Customer-facing or field engineering experience.
