## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- **Lead architecture and development:** Design and evolve the core tax remittance product moving $30B+ across 40+ countries and 5,000+ tax agencies, with reliability and correctness as first principles.
- **Own tax remittance pipelines:** Architect and build end-to-end pipelines orchestrating tax payments from salary payout through agency remittance and refunds, ensuring payments are timely, accurate, auditable, and compliant.
- **Scale distributed payment systems:** Develop and optimize distributed systems handling high-throughput, multi-currency tax remittances, agency cutoffs, retries, reconciliation, and failure recovery at global scale.
- **Drive technical excellence:** Establish high standards for reliability, observability, security, and regulatory and audit readiness.
- **Collaborate across teams and externally:** Partner with Payroll, Banking, Finance Operations, Compliance, external payment partners, and tax agencies to define roadmaps, de-risk launches, and expand into new geographies and products.
- **Mentor and influence:** Provide technical leadership and mentorship across the organization, influencing architecture, design reviews, and operational practices.

## Requirements
- 9+ years of software engineering experience, including at least 3 years leading architecture, designing consumer-facing products, and building systems.
- Strong proficiency in backend development, distributed systems, and large-scale data pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with data processing frameworks.
- Deep knowledge of building and scaling real-time, high-throughput systems.
- Experience developing consumer-grade applications with a focus on intuitive user experiences.
- Strong analytical and debugging skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively to engineering and non-engineering audiences.
