## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Lead day-to-day accounting operations across accounts payable, payroll, general ledger, customer billing, accounts receivable, project and contract accounting, and internal controls.
- Manage monthly and year-end close processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement review.
- Maintain vendor records, employee expense and credit-card reconciliations, payment authorization controls, AR records, aging, collections, project financial records, and contract billing.
- Validate billable labor, rates, and invoice components against contractual requirements; resolve billing adjustments and support contract closeout and billing-rate adjustments.
- Develop and maintain accounting policies, procedures, approval workflows, and audit-ready processes.
- Support external accountants, auditors, and customer or government reviews.
- Lead, develop, coach, and evaluate the accounting team; manage staffing, workload balancing, KPIs, retention, and succession planning.
- Identify opportunities to automate and standardize accounting processes and build new processes or reporting where needed.

## Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including hands-on accounting operations responsibility.
- At least 3 years of direct management or supervisory experience.
- Strong understanding of GAAP and experience with general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, and month-end close.
- Proven experience implementing automation to streamline accounting processes.
- Ability to operate strategically while remaining hands-on with day-to-day details.
- Onsite presence in Rockville, MD or Tysons, VA.

## Nice-to-haves
- Government contracting experience, including FAR/DCAA accounting requirements and indirect rate structures.
- CPA, CMA, or similar certification.

## Compensation and Benefits
- Base compensation: $130,000–$150,000 USD annually.
