## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Lead the next generation of Assembled's design system, defining the visual language, interaction foundations, components, and patterns for cohesive, accessible, high-quality desktop and mobile experiences.
- Create documentation, contribution models, and governance for evolving, adopting, and extending the design system.
- Define reusable interaction patterns for AI-native products, including how people direct, trust, review, and collaborate with AI agents.
- Pioneer AI-assisted design-system workflows with the Design Systems Engineer, using coding agents to generate production-quality UI, understand component usage, measure adherence, and accelerate design-to-implementation workflows.
- Partner with product teams on complex, data-dense enterprise workflows and turn solutions into reusable patterns.

## Requirements
- 4+ years designing and shipping production B2B software.
- Meaningful ownership of a design system used across multiple teams or products.
- Exceptional visual craft and a high bar for quality.
- Strong systems-thinking skills, including primitives, reusable patterns, simplicity, and flexibility.
- Hands-on experience structuring Figma libraries, tokens, variables, components, and documentation for multiple teams.
- Ability to collaborate with frontend engineers on component APIs, responsive behavior, accessibility, states, and implementation tradeoffs.
- Ability to create approachable systems, explain design decisions clearly, and enable other designers.
- Comfortable moving quickly, working through ambiguity, and using user feedback and testing.
- Excitement about AI-native design workflows and design systems that guide and accelerate human- and agent-built products.
- Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.

## Nice to Have
- Experience using coding or design agents such as Cursor, Claude, or Figma AI to build, prototype, or ship.
- Experience instrumenting or measuring design-system adoption or adherence.
- Experience running large-scale component migrations.

- Estimated base salary: **$130,000–$180,000 per year**.
