## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close end to end, including journal entries, accruals, prepaids, reconciliations, and flux review.
- Prepare monthly financial statements and balance sheet support.
- Own revenue accounting for a usage-based business, including ASC 606 across consumption, committed contracts, and prepaid credit drawdown; support billing practices.
- Own accounting systems and lead evaluation, selection, and implementation of the ERP, including migration from the current general ledger.
- Oversee accounts payable and corporate spend policies; support collections with Sales and Customer Success.
- Own payroll accounting for domestic payroll and international contractors; partner with People Operations on compensation execution.
- Manage outsourced bookkeeping and external providers, including tax advisors, bankers, insurance carriers, and auditors.
- Support audit readiness, documentation, schedules, and internal controls.
- Own federal, state, and local income tax coordination, sales tax, multi-state registrations, and 1099 filings.
- Build toward an automated close by applying AI to reconciliations, accruals, flux analysis, and reporting.

## Requirements
- 8+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally combining Big Four and in-house operational roles at high-growth SaaS or AI companies.
- Hands-on experience closing the books.
- Ability to build accounting systems and procedures from scratch.
- Extensive US GAAP knowledge, especially ASC 606 and usage-based revenue recognition.
- Deep experience with ERP and accounting systems, including personally owning an implementation or migration.
- Experience managing close, audit, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and tax compliance in a growing company.
- Demonstrated experience automating accounting work or building AI-enabled workflows.
- Strong communication skills and comfort operating as the sole accountant.

## Nice-to-haves
- Experience taking a startup through its first audit.
- Strong spreadsheet skills and interest in data infrastructure and data warehouses.
- Experience implementing an ERP at a company with fewer than 200 employees.
- Experience preparing a company for multi-entity or international expansion.
- CPA certification.
