## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Develop measurement frameworks and metrics to drive data-driven decision-making and optimize the full user journey.
- Provide product recommendations to evolve the Notifications strategy based on deep analysis of observed shortcomings.
- Conduct opportunity sizing and write clear, actionable analyses to identify improvements to growth strategies.
- Partner with product, engineering, and ML leadership to prioritize and scope projects and inform the Notifications user experience and related machine-learning systems.
- Improve machine-learning models powering notification delivery and content through direct contributions, new features or signals, and compelling analyses.
- Mentor other data scientists and ensure high-quality work across mentored projects.

## Requirements
- 8+ years of combined post-graduate academic and industry experience applying scientific methods to real-world problems using web-scale data.
- Strong background in statistics, machine learning, and/or experimentation.
- Expertise in at least one scripting language, ideally Python or R.
- Proficiency in SQL or Hive.
- Strong business and product sense, including the ability to turn ambiguous questions into well-defined analyses and success metrics.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and present compelling data narratives to leadership and product teams.
- Experience iterating on user products through A/B experimentation with cross-functional teams.
- Experience leading technical projects and substantially influencing the scope and output of others.
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, or equivalent experience.

## Compensation and Benefits
- Base salary: **$164,695–$339,078 USD**.
- Eligible for equity.
- Benefits and additional culture information are available through Pinterest.
- This position is not eligible for relocation assistance.
- The role requires in-office collaboration 1–2 times per quarter and can be situated anywhere in the country.
