## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Advise customers and solve complex MongoDB problems across database servers, drivers, cloud, and infrastructure.
- Support MongoDB Atlas and Cloud Manager, including automation, backup, and monitoring.
- Solve customer issues involving architecture, performance, recovery, security, and scalability.
- Provide expert guidance on running MongoDB at scale and advocate for customer needs with product management and development teams.
- Contribute to internal support tools for performance, benchmarking, and diagnostics.
- Mentor and ramp new team members and build knowledge of new MongoDB product lines.
- Work a ramp-period schedule of Monday–Friday, 7 AM–4 PM EST, followed by a weekend schedule of Saturday–Wednesday, 7 AM–4 PM EST.
- Participate in occasional advance-scheduled coverage outside normal work days or hours.

## Requirements
- Systems engineering experience with Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters, and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols, including DNS, TCP/IP, and SSL/TLS.
- Storage engineering experience with NAS, SAN, SSD, multipathing, and caching.
- Experience building and maintaining complex, mission-critical production database systems.
- Ability to read code and perform basic coding or scripting in one or more languages, including Java, Python, Ruby, C, C++, C#, JavaScript, Node.js, or Go.
- Awareness of customer workloads and use cases involving performance, availability, and scalability.
- Ability to analyze issues holistically from the application tier through the database to storage.
- Genuine desire to help people, remain calm under pressure, solve problems in real time, learn new technical skills, and collaborate effectively.
- US citizenship and residence on US soil are required for access to FedRAMP customer data or metadata.

## Nice-to-haves
- Experience managing large-scale RDBMS or NoSQL databases.
- Experience with LDAP, Kerberos, or Active Directory authentication systems.
- Experience using or managing MongoDB.
- Experience with distributed version control systems, particularly Git.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Experience with Kubernetes or other orchestration systems and vendor-specific enterprise operators.

## Compensation and benefits
- Weekend shift includes a 20% uplift on base salary.
