## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Provide Apache Airflow expertise directly to customers using Astronomer’s managed Airflow service.
- Troubleshoot and solve complex Airflow issues, including configuration optimization and identifying software bugs.
- Build expertise across Airflow, data engineering, Kubernetes, and cloud engineering.
- Contribute to side projects, such as the open-source Airflow repository and internal monitoring and alerting systems.
- Work with customer data engineers, system administrators, DevOps teams, and management.
- Own the customer experience by prioritizing and resolving issues, meeting SLAs, and providing production guidance.
- Provide feedback that can shape the Airflow project.
- Help maintain 24x7 coverage through a specified six-hour pager period and participate in paid weekend on-call rotations.

## Requirements
- Data engineering background.
- 4+ years of experience with Python.
- 1+ year of experience administering Airflow and creating DAGs.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containers.
- Experience with distributed systems on a major cloud provider such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously and independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer interactions through ticketing systems and Zoom.
- Experience mentoring junior team members.
- Ability to participate in a mandatory in-person interview.

## Nice-to-haves
- Contributions to open-source projects.
- Customer support experience.
- Familiarity with SQL and PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Amazon Redshift, dbt, or similar data engineering tools.

## Compensation
- Estimated total compensation of $125,000–$130,000, depending on leveling and geography.
