## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Build expertise across Airflow and data engineering, Kubernetes, and cloud engineering.
- Solve challenging Apache Airflow problems for customers, including configuration optimization and identifying Airflow bugs.
- Spend up to 20% of time on side projects, such as contributing to the open-source Airflow repository or developing internal monitoring and alerting systems built on Airflow.
- Work with a modern, cloud-native product that connects to dozens of other systems.
- Work directly with customers’ data engineers, system administrators, DevOps teams, and management.
- Provide feedback that can shape the direction of the Airflow project.
- Own the customer experience by prioritizing and resolving issues, meeting SLAs, and providing guidance through production deployment.
- Participate remotely within a fully distributed team.
- Help maintain 24x7 coverage through a specified six-hour pager period during the workday.
- Participate in a paid weekend on-call rotation.

## Requirements
- Background in data engineering.
- 4 years of experience with Python.
- 1 year of experience administering Airflow and creating DAGs.
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and containers.
- Experience working with distributed systems on a major cloud provider such as AWS, Google Cloud, or Azure.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously and independently.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills for customer interactions through ticketing systems and Zoom.
- Experience mentoring junior team members.

## Nice-to-haves
- Contributions to open-source projects.
- Customer support experience.
- Familiarity with SQL and PostgreSQL.
- Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Redshift, dbt, or similar data engineering tools.

## Compensation and Benefits
- Estimated total compensation of $125,000–$130,000, based on leveling and geography.
