## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Advise Brex’s People team on employment matters, including performance management, terminations, recruiting, hiring, leaves of absence, accommodations, compensation and benefits, and wage and hour issues.
- Develop and implement policies and practices for employees and contingent workers in partnership with People and Legal teams.
- Manage employment complaints, disputes, litigation, investigations, regulatory inquiries, and EEOC charges.
- Manage outside employment counsel and ensure efficient, value-driven legal support.
- Identify employment and contingent-worker risks and recommend practical mitigation strategies.
- Research employment laws across the United States and Brex’s international office locations and monitor legal developments.
- Develop and deliver employment-law training for managers and employees.
- Respond to subpoenas, personnel-record requests, and other employee-related legal requests and orders.

## Requirements
- 5+ years of experience counseling on employment law matters in a reputable law firm, in-house legal department, or both.
- Experience serving as a day-to-day legal advisor to People or HR functions.
- Strong organizational and project-management skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Practical, problem-solving mindset suited to a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
- Effective collaboration with colleagues and business partners.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including the ability to explain legal complexity to non-lawyers.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- Active bar membership in good standing in at least one U.S. state.

## Nice-to-haves
- 2+ years of experience at a high-growth technology company.
- Working knowledge of California employment law.
- Experience with employment law outside the United States.
- Experience developing or delivering employment-related manager training.
- Financial services or other highly regulated industry experience.

## Compensation
- Expected salary range: $220,000–$270,000 USD.
- Equity and other compensation may be provided depending on the position offered.
