## Job Description

## What You'll Do

- Own end-to-end projects improving Retool's core Apps product offering, making it easier for companies to build internal software that powers their businesses
- Collaborate with the team to build and improve the architectural foundations of how apps are built, loaded, and persisted within Retool
- Meet with internal counterparts to enhance customer thinking and partner closely with product on building out features
- Improve scalability and performance of Retool's platform
- Debug and fix customer problems
- Help assess and recruit future engineers

You'll work in a **TypeScript + Node.js + React** stack, but we value strong engineering fundamentals over specific frameworks. You should be comfortable navigating the full stack, even if you lean more frontend or backend.

## The Skillset You'll Bring

- **5+ years** experience in full stack web development, ideally with strong **JavaScript / TypeScript** proficiency
- Experience owning technically challenging and demanding cross-functional projects
- Experience working with product managers and/or designers
- An eye for product: you care how features work and how they feel
- Ability to make technical decisions quickly, while looping in key stakeholders
- A customer-first mindset and an interest in talking with customers to make sure what we're building meets their needs
- Habit of introspection and understanding what's helped you be successful in the past

## Nice to Have

- Experience with **PostgreSQL**
- Experience in mentoring other team members

## Compensation

Base pay range: **$163,800 – $306,000** per year.
