> Owns physical energy scheduling, availability risk, gas nominations, curtailment, and forecasting across Anthropic’s data center portfolio. The role requires 8+ years of ISO/RTO energy-market operations, contract fluency, large-load flexibility experience, and cross-functional process building.

## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Own the live view of contracted, available, and committed energy and capacity across Anthropic’s non-cloud data center portfolio against planned load and ramp.
- Act as the operational counterpart to LSEs, QSEs, scheduling coordinators, and retail and wholesale suppliers across domestic ISO/RTO and international power markets, including ERCOT.
- Manage utility and ISO market-program participation, including curtailment, demand response, flexible interconnection, and non-firm service commitments.
- Predict and track utility, ISO, fuel, equipment, and contract-driven curtailment; coordinate responses to scarcity pricing, emergency procedures, conservation calls, and reliability events.
- Manage ESA counterparty performance and Anthropic’s exposure, including outage notices, availability guarantees, liquidated damages, dispatch coordination, and reporting.
- Determine portfolio gas requirements and build the gas scheduling strategy, including nominations, hub and index pricing, pipeline capacity, constraints, and gas-plant outages.
- Build energy consumption, availability-risk, and cost forecasts using workload plans, site design, ramp, ESA/PPA terms, market prices, and natural gas prices.
- Provide energy-side inputs for Finance, Accounting, and Procurement Ops to reconcile invoices and settlements and explain variances.
- Track ISO/RTO prices, scarcity and reliability conditions, gas hub prices, ancillary and capacity costs, and tariff, interconnection, and market-rule changes.
- Partner with workload planning, site operations, engineering, legal, procurement, energy finance, and origination to align physical energy position with site and workload plans.
- Build the scheduling, portfolio, data, forecasting, metering, telemetry, and settlement processes and tooling from the ground up.

## Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in energy markets, power scheduling, energy procurement, or utility/retail energy operations.
- Hands-on experience with scheduling and settlement review in ERCOT, PJM, NYISO, MISO, or another ISO/RTO market.
- Experience working at or directly with an LSE, QSE, scheduling coordinator, retail energy provider, or load-management desk.
- Knowledge of day-ahead and real-time scheduling, settlements, curtailment, and demand-response programs.
- Fluency reading and operating ESAs, PPAs, and utility large-load interconnection and service agreements.
- Experience navigating shortage pricing, ISO scarcity pricing, emergency procedures, and conservation calls.
- Understanding of gas scheduling, nominations, hub pricing, pipeline constraints, and gas-fired plant outages.
- Experience designing or operating load flexibility for a large load, including curtailment, demand response, non-firm service, or flexible interconnection.
- Understanding of large-load tariff provisions, including minimum demand charges, cost allocation, exit and stranded-cost provisions, study requirements, and collateral requirements.
- Experience building or running energy consumption and cost forecasts for large loads or energy portfolios.
- Ability to coordinate across workload planning, site operations, finance, legal, and origination teams without direct reporting relationships.
- Experience standing up a scheduling, portfolio, or operations function from scratch.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, economics, energy, finance, data science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

## Nice-to-haves
- Experience with data centers or other large, fast-ramping loads in ERCOT, PJM, NYISO, MISO, or another ISO/RTO market.
- Experience with behind-the-meter, islanded, or bridge-power configurations.
- Experience managing counterparty performance under an ESA or tolling agreement, including availability guarantees, outage reporting, liquidated damages, and dispatch coordination.
- Familiarity with hedging and risk management.

## Compensation
- Annual salary range: $320000–$405000.
