## Job Description

## Responsibilities

- Demonstrate Stripe's economic impact through proactive corporate campaigns around Stripe’s role in creating economic opportunity. Lead communications for high-profile events, executive interviews, and public appearances.
- Own Stripe's reputational storytelling globally by designing and executing programs that build Stripe's profile and trust among core business audiences, policymakers, and the Washington press corps.
- Build the next chapter of Stripe's policy communications function. Partner with the policy team to develop clear points-of-view on industry, regulatory, and policy topics, amplify through appropriate channels, establish relationships with journalists and influencers in policy and tech, thought leaders in AI, crypto, and tech policy, rapid response capabilities, and navigate political/regulatory moments in D.C.
- Provide executive counsel as a trusted advisor on communications strategy, exercising clear judgment in ambiguous situations, navigating unanticipated moments, and seizing opportunities.

## Minimum Requirements

- Superlative writer with proven ability to create clear, compelling narratives around complex, high-stakes topics.
- Exceptional judgment in ambiguous, high-pressure situations; able to operate with significant autonomy and make consequential decisions quickly.
- Fluency in the tech media landscape, including an existing network of relationships with reporters, editors, and influencers in tech policy and business press.
- Experience collaborating closely with policy, legal, and senior executive stakeholders.
- Creative flair and aversion to the hackneyed and obvious; high bar for communications programs.
- Entrepreneurial streak; energized by building, not just managing.

## Preferred Qualifications

- Demonstrated ability to design and execute proactive communications campaigns, not just respond to incoming.
- Track record of building something from scratch (comms function, narrative program, or public-facing campaign) and iterating on it.
- Feel for independent media (Substack, podcasts, YouTube, influencers on X) and using these to shape conversations among policymakers and thought leaders.
