## Job Description

## Responsibilities

### Internal Networking & Time Synchronization
- Architect, configure, and optimize the internal fault-tolerant network linking onboard compute nodes, controllers, and high-bandwidth sensors such as LiDARs and cameras.
- Drive the design and reliability of vehicle-wide time synchronization using PTP and IEEE 802.1AS (gPTP) for safety-critical data paths.
- Configure and troubleshoot managed automotive and industrial switches, including Marvell and Broadcom hardware.
- Implement VLAN segmentation and Automotive Ethernet to ensure deterministic traffic isolation.

### External Connectivity & Platform Systems
- Design robust failover mechanisms and network bonding frameworks that aggregate multiple LTE/5G carriers for reliable external connectivity.
- Debug and tune low-level Linux networking parameters, including NIC buffers, hardware offloads, interrupt handling, and NAPI behavior.
- Write and maintain system-level software, telemetry agents, and daemons in Go and Python for x86_64 and ARM64 NVIDIA platforms.
- Assist with hardware bring-up, debug PCIe and Ethernet interfaces, and integrate networking components into custom OS deployments.
- Build end-to-end monitoring for the networking stack and export granular performance metrics to support fleet-scale connectivity debugging.

## Requirements
- Strong track record in system-level software development with deep expertise in Linux systems and networking fundamentals.
- Hands-on experience with IP routing, VLANs, firewalling using nftables or iptables, and packet troubleshooting with tools such as tcpdump and Wireshark.
- Solid programming experience in Go and Python.
- Ability to read and understand C and C++ for lower-level debugging.
- Methodical approach to debugging issues spanning user-space code, Linux kernels, drivers, and physical hardware interfaces.
- On-site or hybrid work in Austin, TX is required for close collaboration with hardware and lab tools.

## Nice to Have
- Experience with Automotive Ethernet and Time-Sensitive Networking (TSN).
- Experience implementing or debugging PTP and hardware timestamping in distributed systems.
- Familiarity with serial consoles, JTAG, I2C, and SPI for isolating hardware and software faults on ARM64 platforms.
- Experience with real-time Linux tuning, cgroups, CPU pinning, and scheduling priorities.
- Familiarity with the Nix ecosystem or NixOS.
