## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Shape the roadmap for GATE and GitLab authentication services.
- Design and implement authentication features across the Rails monolith and GATE, including token issuance, validation, and identity services.
- Migrate authentication and token-management paths from the monolith into GATE while maintaining reliability across deployment models.
- Build authentication mechanisms such as Workload Identity Federation.
- Improve access management and address vulnerabilities reported through the HackerOne program.
- Solve complex technical problems across Go and Ruby codebases.
- Define, maintain, and advocate for engineering standards through code review.
- Communicate publicly about initiatives, projects, and community contributions.
- Ship moderately sized features with guidance and collaborate on larger GATE projects.

## Requirements
- Professional experience with Go and/or Ruby in scalable or mission-critical SaaS products.
- Familiarity with authentication and authorization technologies including OAuth, OpenID Connect, SAML, SSO, SCIM, LDAP, JWT, RBAC, or IAM.
- Knowledge of token systems, cryptographic signing, and key management.
- Experience contributing to a service from concept through production.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills in a remote, asynchronous environment.
- Experience diagnosing and preventing performance and optimization issues.
- Experience working in an agile, iterative software development process.

## Compensation and Benefits
- United States base salary range: **$139,200–$235,200 USD**.
