## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Develop creative energy deployment approaches, including grid-connected and behind-the-meter solutions, to achieve fast energization while maintaining social license.
- Lead energy procurement and markets strategy to secure multi-hundred-megawatt power capacity across the National Electricity Market (NEM), Wholesale Electricity Market (WEM), and Northern Territory Electricity Market (NTEM).
- Structure utility partnerships and commercial agreements that prioritize speed to energization and scale.
- Manage utility and regulatory stakeholders across Australian jurisdictions, including ISOs, Transmission Network Service Providers (TNSPs), Distribution Network Service Providers (DNSPs), and state regulators.
- Drive energy markets and policy strategy for AI compute facilities, monitoring the National Electricity Rules (NER) and regulatory developments and engaging policymakers to address grid capacity challenges.
- Partner with engineering and delivery teams to translate energy market dynamics and network constraints into capacity acceleration strategies.
- Develop market intelligence on regional power availability, transmission constraints, and connection queue dynamics to inform site selection and deployment strategy.
- Structure commercial frameworks and partnership models, including Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), network use-of-system arrangements, and behind-the-meter solutions.

## Requirements
- 15+ years of experience in energy procurement, utility development, or power markets for large-scale infrastructure projects, with substantial exposure to the Australian energy landscape.
- Deep expertise in the NEM, WEM, and/or NTEM, network connection processes, and transmission system planning, including familiarity with market operators' Integrated System Plans.
- Experience securing power capacity and navigating network connection agreements, PPAs, or other offtake agreement structures in Australia.
- Proficiency analyzing energy market dynamics, regulatory frameworks, and grid constraints.
- Strong stakeholder management skills and experience building relationships with TNSPs, DNSPs, system operators, regulators, policymakers, and critical equipment vendors.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex grid and regulatory dynamics into actionable strategies.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in a relevant field.

## Nice-to-haves
- Energy procurement experience for data centers, high-performance computing, or AI/ML infrastructure.
- Familiarity with hyperscale infrastructure requirements and the power demands of large-scale AI training and inference workloads.
- Experience with regulatory affairs, energy policy advocacy, or engagement with the AER, AEMC, AEMO, DCCEEW, and state energy departments or regulators.
- Background in transmission planning, connection studies, System Strength, Generator Performance Standards, or grid capacity analysis under the NER.
- Understanding of battery energy storage systems, demand response, virtual power plants, and distributed energy resources.
- Experience structuring solutions involving Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and congested NEM regions.
