## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Participate in task breakdown, estimation, design, implementation and maintenance of Custody systems.
- Write, review, test, and document code according to engineering and team standards.
- Dive deep into complex, ambiguous problems and formulate elegant and practical solutions.
- Review other developers' code to ensure consistency, reduce errors, and share context.
- Drive work independently and lead or significantly contribute to medium-to-large projects, including leading end-to-end with little oversight.
- Break down large projects into smaller tasks, accurately estimate time and scope, analyze trade-offs, and recommend priorities.
- Foster an efficient deterministic testing culture with emphasis on minimizing tech debt.
- Ensure knowledge is shared among the team to avoid single points of failure.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with other teams.
- Monitor company objectives and trends that may affect success.
- Mentor and guide others on the team, help them understand strategic goals.
- Communicate outside team boundaries to solve problems and build positive working relationships.

## Requirements
- Real world experience building complex distributed systems.
- Enjoy building resilient services that can handle varying volumes of work without manual intervention.
- Prioritize end-user experience and business value over "cool tech".
- Genuinely care about code quality and test infrastructure.
- Strong computer science fundamentals (concurrency, algorithms, data structures); formal CS degree not required.
- Believe software engineering is a team activity and enjoy collaborating, learning from, and mentoring others.

## Nice-to-Haves
- Experience with applied cryptography.
- Mindset where "crypto" means cryptography, not cryptocurrency.
- Read blockchain protocol white papers for fun and stay up to date with cryptoasset innovations.
- GraphQL API design and implementation experience.
- gRPC API design and implementation experience.
- Background in the finance industry.
