## Job Description

## Responsibilities
- Bring outsourced HR operations in-house and stabilize day-to-day support, including onboarding paperwork, benefits, and employee inquiries, within the first 30–45 days.
- Own and evolve the HRIS (currently Gusto), including integrations, permissions, data integrity, scalability, and periodic platform-fit assessments.
- Coordinate payroll cycles with Accounting and Finance.
- Identify opportunities for automation and operational scaling.
- Improve onboarding and offboarding from offer acceptance through onboarding, including preboarding, documentation, employee records, benefits, 401(k), day-one readiness, final pay, and compliant offboarding logistics.
- Administer open enrollment and manage the benefits broker relationship.
- Handle sensitive leave situations, including CFRA, PDL, and ADA interactive processes.
- Build startup-appropriate People programs, such as manager training and employee engagement initiatives.
- Surface risks, dependencies, and tradeoffs in People decisions and help leadership navigate complex situations.
- Use data and operational insights to identify issues early and improve programs and reporting.

## Requirements
- 6+ years of HR generalist or People Operations experience, including experience in a lean function at a company with fewer than approximately 150 employees.
- Full ownership experience with an HRIS, including payroll, integrations, permissions, and data integrity.
- Experience stabilizing an operational function quickly from an undocumented or loosely defined starting point.
- Working knowledge of California employment law, including FEHA, CFRA/PFL, exempt classification, and final pay requirements.
- Direct experience owning benefits administration and leave management, including sensitive or confidential situations.
- Demonstrated ability to build and own processes or programs end-to-end.
- Comfort using data to identify problems and inform decisions.

## Nice-to-haves
- Experience partnering with leadership on employee relations and performance management, with appropriate escalation of complex or high-risk matters.
- Experience designing or overhauling a performance review cycle.
- Experience in a technical, engineering-heavy, or infrastructure-focused company.
- Hands-on experience with Gusto.
