About the job
Responsibilities
- Build automated signal ingestion pipelines that pull real-time data from security tooling, normalizing, enriching, and scoring raw findings into actionable, ranked risk intelligence.
- Develop probabilistic risk models that express security exposure as probability distributions, including quantified breach likelihood and expected losses.
- Identify systemic choke points across the attack surface and prioritize high-leverage remediation paths by expected impact.
- Build dashboards and data-driven insights for security, engineering, and executive stakeholders.
- Support risk quantification efforts that express security exposure in financial terms and connect model outputs to investment decisions and board-level reporting.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in data engineering.
- Production-level coding experience in Python and SQL, including PostgreSQL, Presto, or SparkSQL.
- 3+ years of experience building and deploying machine learning or probabilistic models, such as Bayesian models, in production.
- Experience building real-time or near-real-time data pipelines across multiple formats, including stream and batch processing at scale.
- Experience with data modeling for classification, normalization, and risk or anomaly-detection signal development.
- Experience developing metrics that inform security and business decisions.
Nice-to-haves
- Familiarity with security risk concepts, including threat-intelligence enrichment pipelines, EPSS, or CISA KEV.
- Familiarity with quantitative risk frameworks such as FAIR.
- Exposure to security frameworks such as NIST CSF and SOC 2.
- Ability to translate risk model outputs into executive- or board-level narratives.
- Experience operating effectively in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
Compensation and benefits
- The role is remote and currently open to candidates permanently located in Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, or Nova Scotia.
- Base pay for Canadian candidates: CA$153,000–CA$187,000 CAD.
- Eligible for a new-hire equity grant and annual refresh grants.
- Benefits are provided according to the company's offerings and the employee's location.
