# Questions about Hotfix

Answers about current jobs, alerts, applications, and hiring on Hotfix.

## What makes Hotfix different?

Every job in Hotfix job search is open right now, because jobs leave within a day of companies closing them. Employers can also hire on Hotfix with their own careers page and applicant list.

## Are the jobs still open?

A job closed in a company's hiring system leaves Hotfix within a day. Jobs on Hotfix careers pages leave as soon as the employer closes them. [Read our ghost jobs research](https://hotfix.jobs/blog/ghost-job-rate-q2-2026)

## Where do the jobs come from?

Jobs come from company hiring systems and employers that host their careers page on Hotfix. They do not come from other job boards.

## Do I need an account to search?

No. You can browse, search, and read job pages without an account. Sign in to create up to five alerts, save jobs, keep track of the ones you apply to, and reuse a stored resume.

## How do alerts work?

Choose the criteria for an alert and Hotfix will check newly posted jobs against it. When a job matches, you receive a notification in Hotfix, plus email or push when enabled. You can have up to five alerts.

## What's the difference between an alert and the watchlist?

An alert watches for new jobs matching a search. The watchlist keeps individual jobs you chose: the ones you are watching, the ones you applied to, and the ones that have closed.

## What's free for seekers? What's paid for employers?

Hotfix is free for job seekers. Employers pay by how many jobs they keep open, not by seats. Every plan includes unlimited team members, and promoting a job is optional. [See pricing](https://hotfix.jobs/pricing)

## Does my resume choose or match jobs?

No. Your resume can be stored and reused when you apply, but it never selects jobs, ranks results, or decides alert matches.
